RESOLVED THAT the minutes of the Waste Strategy Task Force meeting held on May 17, 2017 be adopted as circulated.

Presentation by Dave Carroll, a CKL resident with extensive background in the plastic industry, brought forward concerns regarding the current CKL recycling program for plastics and the use of said plastic once it leaves the landfills which he believes to be a small percentage of that which is collected.  He recommends incineration as a better alternative.  Taste Force discussed the ideas and information presented.

RESOLVED THAT the presentation by Dave Carroll be received and that staff  look further  into what happens to our plastics once they leave the Northumberland facility.

C & D Recyling Program

Dave Yousif outlined the results of the C & D study and recommended moving forward with the program either as a mixed construction waste program or, only recycling wood and drywall.

RESOLVED THAT the presentation by Dave Yousif regarding the C & D recycling program be received.

Motion for staff to pursue a C & D pilot project based on Reclay reccommendations and prepare a report to be approved by the Task Force and presented to Council.

RESOLVED THAT the motion as defined by Councillor Brian Junkin be received.

Curbside Study

Presentation provided an overview of the components of the study and the results of each component. Alternative suggestions to current practices were provided but it was recommended that the current contract be extended until Provincial regulations regarding organic waste are in place.
