E. Turner called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. with the following members present Councillor R. Ashmore, A. Adare, B. Bateman, D. Carroll, , R. Macklem, and M. Sloboda.

Report KLMHC2020-02 Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada

The Committee reviewed the presented list of properties.

The Pleasant Point Union Church designation will be going forward to the Committee of the Whole on January 14.

The Old Post Office in Bethany will be coming forward in the spring as a proposed property for designation. à

A. Adare updated the committee on the current restoration work being undertaken on the Boyd dry stone wall in Bobcaygeon by Environmental Action Bobcaygeon (EAB). EAB would like to see the wall designated.

The Doors Open Committee will begin meeting for 2020. Members of the Municipal Heritage Committee will be invited to take part.

R. Ashmore presented correspondence from Jim Chapman who would like to set up a WW1/WW2 museum in Omemee and would like to come and introduce himself to the Committee at its next meeting. E. Turner will make arrangements.

Heritage Items in the News

The Committee discussed some heritage items that had recently been in the news and circulated to the committee over the holiday period.

Review of Draft Strategic Plan

The Committee discussed the draft Strategic Plan being reviewed by the Committee of the Whole on January 14. The Committee raised concerns regarding the lack of heritage language in the Strategic Plan which appears to have been reduced as a priority from the last strategic plan. The Committee also raised concerns regarding the lack of consultation with committees and the public to have input on the plan.

The Committee requested that a letter be forwarded outlining their concerns. E. Turner will facilitate.

The next meeting will be Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in the Economic Development Boardroom at the Lindsay Service Centre (180 Kent Street West, Lindsay).
