Heather Kirby gave a verbal overview of the Community Pandemic Recovery Fund Committee Review – Round 2. The Funding Committee met on May 28, 2021, a very productive meeting with fulsome discussion. Six applications reviewed by each committee member for eligibility in alignment with the framework and intention for the funding. All six applications were funded for a total funding amount of $42,500. The remaining balance $6,662.48 was recommended by the Committee to be returned to the City Reserve.

Heather thanked the Committee for their time, the great conversations, great applications, it’s great to see the work that’s happening across the City. We sincerely hope the support from both intakes will make an impact across our local community. Thank you to the City and the Lindsay CHEST fund for making the Community Fund possible. Without this support these monies wouldn’t be made available to the broader community and thank you to the city staff for their support.

The Council information report summarizing the applications, grants and the resolution to return the balance to the City Reserve June 15, 2021.

Lynda provided an update on workshops to date. Three of the four digital literacy workshops hosted by Pinnguaq Association are complete, the fourth one will be this week, eighteen participants so far. Another workshop is scheduled for June 21st, Mental Health and Well Being in the WorkPlace hosted by Vera Voroskolevska a Physiologist with Restore Balance. Evaluations will go out to the participants when the series of workshops is complete.

Amy suggested surveying Community Stakeholders again, with all that has happened in the last year, also a way to evaluate our efforts as a Task Force. Heather supported the suggested, to see if any further support as people transition through to recovery.

The survey working group to reconvene - Amy, Lynda and Marina to work with Brenda on another survey and to utilized tools on Jump In. To start identifying losses as well as new things as the new normal.

Community Organization list to be recirculated to identify gaps.

Councillor Dunn suggested a change in direction for the Task Force. Rod commented on discussion expected at the next Senior Management Team weekly meeting around the future of the original direction of Council with the movement into recovery and the future of shifting to the broader community resource focus not just the pandemic.

Lynda also sits on the Community Safety and Well-Being Advisory Committee and sees a lot of potential overlap and be a benefit.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., electronic participation.
