C. Morrissey called the meeting to order at 1:36 p.m.  Councillor Elmslie, S. Coupland, D. Engelstad, C. Morrissey, E. Peeters and M. Porteous were in attendance.

Accessibility Officer B. Condie and Recording Secretary K. Lewis were also in attendance.

Absent: L. DaSilva, S. Fox, A. O'Bumsawin, N. Price and K. Van Den Oetelaar.

    That the minutes of the Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting held on February 24, 2021, be adopted as circulated.

B. Condie provided a Presentation to the Committee of the Whole Meeting on March 9th, 2021 on the Municipal Accessibility Master Plan for the 2020-2021 calendar year. The 2021 Work Plan and Achievements 2020 Report and the Accessibility Master Plan Report were provided to Council and the recommendation of approval be brought forward to the Regular Council Meeting on March 23, 2021.

The Orientation Package was provided to the Committee for review and for the members to sign the waiver and provide to the City Clerk's Office.

B. Condie congratulated Jenn Johnson, Manager of Parks, Recreation and Culture and her team on winning the 2020 Urban Parks Design Award from the Ontario Parks Association. The award is in recognition of the re-development of Logie Park. The accessibility included at Logie Park is appreciated.

 

E. Peeters provided a brief update on the Public Awareness Working Group. The focus is the Accessibility Awards with nominations being accepted until March 26th, 2021. The awards will be presented virtually at the Committee of the Whole Meeting on June 1, 2021.

M. Porteous provided an update from the Public Spaces Working Group. The group discussed observing future Planning Advisory Committee Meetings to gain knowledge of future development prior to the design stage. The Public Spaces Working Group would like to provide a presentation to the Committee regarding adaptable residential housing. B. Condie provided information to the working group during their last meeting from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation regarding accessible, adaptable housing. The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act was created in 2005 and the need to incorporate the Integrated Accessibility Standards regulation in future planning is important. A. O'Bumsawin continues to review and offer recommendations on Site Plans and expressed he would provide training to the group on reviewing Site Plans.

Councillor Elmslie provided an update that the work is continuing in the Lindsay Downtown reconstruction project and is moving along very well and will be completed on time if not ahead of schedule.

Improvements and upgrades to the downtown in Fenelon Falls have started and are moving along quite swiftly and are ahead of schedule. There is excitement from residents around the improvements in the downtown.

Councillor Elmslie provided an update regarding the vaccine rollout for our Health Unit area and answered questions.
