B. Condie provided a brief update to the Committee that she is currently conducting a review and update of all Accessibility Management Directives that align with and support the City Accessibility Policy. The renewed Management Directives will be moved to the new templates and will reflect the renewed corporate logo and branding. Once completed they will be made available on the City's website for public viewing. B. Condie is currently working with a staff team on the development of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy. Current work is focused on reviewing best practices and related information. Development will be on-going during this year, next and possibly into 2022. Work continues on the creation of a Planning Development Checklist that could be provided to developers upon the application stage.

E. Peeters gave a brief update on the Public Awareness Working Group. The focus has been on the Accessibility Awards that will be presented virtually at the Committee of Whole Meeting on June 1, 2021. They are seven awards, one recipient in each category to be presented. B. Condie agreed to send the link to the meeting to all members so that all that wish to view can.

A. O'Bumsawin gave a brief update on the Public Spaces Working Group. He continues to receive submissions of site plan applications from City Planning. A. O’Bumsawin expressed frustration that even though a thorough list of comments is provided, little change is seen during 2nd and 3rd submission reviews. Many do not wish to go beyond what is required through the Planning and Building requirements. A discussion ensued regarding the importance of making our residential, commercial and public spaces accessible for all people, especially in a retirement community such as Kawartha Lakes. Councillor Elmslie made suggestion that a meeting with the acting Director of Planning, Richard Holy be arranged. B. Condie agreed to coordinate a virtual meeting through Zoom to discuss possible solutions.

Councillor Elmslie gave a brief update advising that busy times will continue for the Public Spaces Working Group. Development is at an all time high. Kent Street construction is coming along really well and expected to be finished on time. The Fenelon Falls construction is also moving along really well and will pause in June for the summer/tourism season and commence again in September. Councillor Elmslie expressed there are still funds available for pandemic relief to not for profits, business and organizations.
