The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m.

Staff gave an overview of the bulky plastic recycling pilot program that is being recommended to run in 2022 and 2023, pending council approval.

    That the Fenelon Landfill Public Review Committee supports the two-year bulky plastic recycling pilot program at the Lindsay Ops Landfill.

Staff gave an overview of improvements in the mattress recycling program including, selling curbside collection tags for mattresses online and not allowing mattresses to be disposed of in landfills.

Fenelon PRC members were very supportive but want to ensure that proper education is given to residents and recommend including this information in the waste and recycling calendar and jump in for further outreach.

    That the Fenelon Landfill Public Review Committee supports recycling all mattresses in the City of Kawartha Lakes and no longer accepting mattresses at the Laxton, Eldon, Somerville, and Fenelon landfills.

Staff reviewed the success of the construction and demolition recycling pilot program and recommend continuing this program into future years, pending council approval.

Fenelon PRC members were supportive but would also like staff to look into a construction and demolition reuse program at the landfills.

    That the Fenelon PRC supports a permanent Construction and Demolition recycling program at the Lindsay Ops landfill, with consideration of an annual operating budget of $155,000 for 2022.

Staff provided an update on the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks inspection of the Fenelon compost pad. No issues were noted.

Staff informed the committee that council approved the Fenelon landfill's 2020 work summary and 2021 work plan.

Dave Kerr noted that the capital project work at Fenelon landfill will be taking place in the next couple of months and the committee will receive updates as they are available.

Bob requested that there be an update on the Fenelon landfill pollinator program at the next meeting.

The next meeting date will be determined at a later time.
