6.1

K. Pantaleo reminded the Committee that the wetland survey PowerPoint presentation will be reviewed at September's meeting. The leachate flushing is to take place in August this year to avoid the colder temperatures later in the year.

No leachate outbreaks were reported.

K. Pantaleo advised that there was a resident concerned about unauthorized expansion. An inspection was completed by the Ministry and it was determined that what the resident was seeing was the new gas wells.

No comments to provide to the Committee.

Waste Tech II B. Ferguson completed a site inspection July 17, 2024 and noted a tree was down near surface water 18.  Staff will remove the tree to make it accessible.

PCB sampling for surface water 3 and surface water 13 were unable to be sampled as both locations were dry when Azimuth went to do the next round of sampling.

Cell 4 and 5 north construction is still ongoing.  The cell is complete but still has small items to be finalized prior to completion.

The rehab transfer station project has been started.  The contractor has removed the back wall and door and are currently pouring concrete with hopes of utilizing the building by August.  Recycling has temporarily been placed in the construction and demolition bunker as well as at the back of the building.

The scales and drop off area's new design is still in process but is anticipated to be completed by Q3 in 2025.

Sludge removal from storm water retention ponds A and B has been completed.  All the valves are operational and the project has been closed.

Engineering is continuing to work on the environmental assessment (EA).  There are no updates at this time.

As of the morning of the meeting there were 241 surveys completed.  The goal was 500 by the end of September.  Our internal communications group has recommended that a boosted Facebook post would be valuable to helping achieve the Committee’s goal and gain participation.  The Committee agreed with the suggestion and supported the decision.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, September 18th at 2:30 p.m. in the Weldon Room, City Hall.

All members and staff toured the Landfill site. This provided an opportunity for questions and also provided an opportunity to show the members the improvements made to the site (i.e. New cell, new push-wall along with the rehabilitated construction and demolition area).
