Chair N. Price called the meeting to order at 1:50 p.m. Committee members L. DaSilva, M.A. Fitzpatrick, D. Foster, B. Huskinson, J. McLean, C. Morrissey, E. Peeters, J. Skelton, S. Howard and Councillor S. Strangway, were in attendance.

    That the closed session minutes of the Kawartha Lakes Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting held on April 19, 2018, be adopted.

B. Condie thanked the Committee for their participation in the development of the Accessibility Plan and Accessibility Policy.  She reported to the members that Council had endorsed both documents on June 5th.

At the invitation of Councillor Strangway, she advised that she had attended the Probus Club meeting in Fenelon Falls on June 19th. The keynote speaker, Callinda Joseph, who is an individual with a physical disability, gave a very informative presentation. Callinda is an advocate for people with disabilities and sits on many Committees, including the one associated with the development of Federal Accessibility Standards.

B. Condie expressed appreciation to Beverly Jeeves and her team at the Maryboro Lodge for their hospitality.

E. Peeters advised that the Public Awareness Working Group met on Tuesday, June 19th.  Discussions included, but were not limited to, the collection of recommendations regarding the Lindsay Downtown Reconstruction and possible changes to the current Accessibility Awareness Committee brochure. B. Condie shared examples from other municipalities for the Working Group to review and provide suggestions at a future meeting.
Members also provided input on suggested changes to the Awards nomination form and eligibility criteria. The Accessibility Officer will update the Nomination Form with the suggested changes and upload the revised form to the Website. Nominations will now be received year-round.

B. Condie reported that the Working Group met on June 13th. Comments and recommendations were received regarding the Lindsay Downtown Reconstruction.

Councillor Strangway introduced Mike, the bus driver who was responsible for transporting the Committee members to and from today's meeting at the Maryboro Lodge in Fenelon Falls.

He reported that capital budget discussions have begun and the possibility of accessibility audits for 10-20 City facilities looks promising for 2019.

He advised the members that he has requested accessible door openers for the washrooms at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre.

J. Skelton advised the Committee that she would abstain from voting due to her membership on the Heritage Victoria Committee.

B. Condie reported that she had met with the Public Awareness and Public Spaces Working Groups and collected comments and recommendations from each group. She verbally presented the recommendations received to the Committee members.
