Cultural Heritage Evaluation Report Review - 144 Ranchers Road, Geographic Township of Fenelon

E. Turner provided an overview of the proposed development at 144 Ranchers Road and the accompanying CHER. A. Hart noted that he thinks the farmhouse is a good example of how farmhouses have evolved but felt that the outbuildings merited consideration for preservation. He suggested that they be moved to a different site and preserved there. I. McKechnie agreed, especially in relation to the barn which looks like it is in good condition as well as outbuildings 2 and 3. J. Hartman agreed and noted that she felt the barn was the most important of the structures. I. McKechnie suggested that the Committee should request a commemorative plaque or interpretive panel be placed somewhere on the site. S. McCormack clarified that the Committee would be requesting that the developer offer up the buildings to other organizations as opposed to having to find a site and move them themselves and A. Hart agreed.

Alteration Application - 2 Lindsay Street South, Lindsay

The Committee reviewed the proposed application for new signage at the Academy Theatre. The Committe was generally supportive of the signage. I. McKechnie noted that an internally lit sign on the north side did not fit with the traditional theatre lighting. A. Hart noted that the marquee and blade sign look good, but agreed that the north side sign should not be lit. A. Adare asked if there was going to be another sign in relation to the marquee indicating upcoming and current shows as there is currently there. W. Bateman suggested that the theatre would likely want this. A. Hart suggested that the signs be approved but with the condition that the north wall sign was externally illuminated and that additional information be provided in relation to the marquee and show advertisements.
